Cthulhu Relics
Why do all the civs seek the same relics? Have they secretly aligned with the same cult? Why does the game end when one player/team holds all the relics for 200 years? Will it awaken Him?!
◉ Relics are now shown as horrifying ancient sculptures made of greenish unplaceable stone.
◉ The sculptures eyes (and the writing on the pedestal) light up with the player colour when picked up by a monk.
♫ The relic sound is replaced with an ominous voice-that-is-not-a-voice from some undetermined point below, which only fancy could transmute into sound, but which may be attempted to render by the almost unpronouncable jumble of letters, ‘Cthulhu fhtagn.’
♫ The monks’ conversion song has been replaced. Victims will attack former allies once the psychic assault has laid waste to their sanity.
◉ The monks will be made to look more like cultists once I’ve finished them.
✿ This mod is just cosmetic. It’s multiplayer compatible. No settings need to be changed.
The Rajas patch introduced a bug preventing all sound mods from working without manual install.
To manually install the you’ve got open up the mod folder directory and copy over the .wav files into the corresponding game folders yourself.

To get the original sound files back you can either make back-ups of them yourself before copying in the modded ones, or just go into your steam library AoE2 game properties, go to the tab "Local files" and click the button "Verify integrity of game files…".
4 May 17: changed many of the sounds.
3 May 17: removed the few monk visual changes I’d done so far. Doesn’t look good having them half done.
