Description:
Introduction:

This mod brings a new faction to the world of Kenshi with the goal of redeeming wayward undesirables, but their idea of “redemption” is different than The Holy Nation’s Rebirth. Instead of the goal of working slaves to death and achieving rebirth, The Way believes they can be reformed through hard work to become productive members of society and then released. Even though they seem to be a good faction, are they as benevolent as they seem? Only you as the player can find out.

What to do with the bandits?:

When you create a base in the world of Kenshi, ofttimes bandits or raiders will come and attack and if your faction prevails then you have lots of dying bodies lying on the ground. What do you do with these fallen foes? Typically, we either wait and let them finish bleeding out to become corpses and then dispose of them in a furnace. Or we might bandage them up, then capture them and drag their sorry asses across the Kenshi landscape to turn in as bounties or sell as slaves. Or they might become our perpetual punching bags, get turned into dog food, or even into questionable army rations. But sometimes the slave markets are too far away, or we might feel it is a waste of life in desolate Kenshi just to let them die, but if we keep them imprisoned then they have to be fed. Or maybe we don’t like the idea of our squads becoming cannibalistic.

The Way:

The founders of The Way have come up with another solution, a rehab of sorts for the unwanted trouble makers in Kenshi. You captured a bandit? Bring him to The Way and turn him over to the overseer and watch him become a reformed farmer. The Way leaders know you had to go to some trouble to bring him to their camp so they do give a small reward. They have tried to stay a neutral sect so they have redemption camps scattered throughout the continent of Kenshi. You will find one in Bast, the Border Zone, the Stenn Desert, the Leviathan’s Coast, and Stobe’s Garden. The Way, though, they do have some strict rules so they don’t get a long with the thieving factions. They are also at odds with the Holy Nation since they have skeletons in their midst. Anti-slavers may not like them either since their “redemption” might be considered slavery by some.

What this mod offers:

*A new faction
*5 redemption camps
*a new game start that places a weak player character near a redemption camp
*the opportunity for a player character to get enslaved and then work their way to freedom
*the ability to recruit The Way slaves who may or may not join you, the new recruit still has to finish off their sentence
*a place to drop off your captured enemies

Other Notes:

*Be careful of how you interact with The Way Guards. If your characte(s) is weak and/or alone, they will notice that. They also have speech timers if they notice your character and ignoring them is not a good idea.
*The gate guards will also want to talk to you if you are an outsider. Ignore them at your peril.
*In my play-throughs, I have not so far encountered mod conflicts. The conflicts I can see happening though is if another mod adds a town in same location as the redemption camps. If you play with Reactive World or one similar I would put that mod under this one. So far I haven’t had any crashes playing this one with Reactive World.
