Description:

Short of having DFHacks’ "fastdwarf # #" for speedy and/or teleporting dwarves, here’s an alternative – patching the "Gait". Explanation: dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/Gait.

Make those dwarves constantly powerwalk to all the sh- stuff they need to do, & still succumb to !FUN! because you were way too ambitious.

+>>> If you want a less-cheaty patch, creator "eb" made a lite increase version – "Reasonably Speedy Dwarves (biped gait only)" @ https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2908414320 <<<+

This does interact with other calculations, such as weight/density, item size, certain labors, skill levels & individual dwarf attributes – dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/Attribute.

Example: hauling, especially stone/ore. All the calculations with item weight & individual dwarf attributes are still going on. Got a strapping lad with "strong" or "mighty" attribute? Hauling a piece of copper ore/obsidian boulder should be powering around almost as fast as not hauling anything, while an elderly "very weak" dwarf will hardly be moving any faster than un-modded. Got tunnel tube, or even featherwood barrels? Watch those cooks zoom between your kitchens & food stockpile. A Legendary engraver will be zooming from bedroom to bedroom, while a Competent engraver will still be putting finishing touches on his masterpiece, even if he zips to the next bedroom just as fast.

NOTE: does not increase workshop orders speed as far as I can tell (mostly a skill level calculation), this is merely travel speed: walking, jogging, running, etc.

NOTE: does not create actual teleporting dwarves

ALSO NOTE: patch effects the "creature_standard.txt" file… so good luck with probably-also-speedy undead dwarves in those Terrifying biomes? That’s what military skill training & oodles of magma traps are for.
