AW101-SW Merlin SICG SAR
Superseded by the AW189-SW SICG SAR
This isn’t updated anymore, bugs are entering as stormworks changes
Now with the SkyBlaze Search System
Superseded by the AW189-SW SICG SAR
A coastguard rescue variant of the AW101-SW Merlin airframe.

- The solid bars at the lower edges of main screens are the return buttons.
- Engage main & avionic power. Internal defaults on at spawn
- Set engines to ‘flight’ and wait for spool up. Rotor RPS is the left meter on the flight display.
- Make sure your seat is in control
- Take-off
Need-to-know:
– With both power switches off the batteries won’t drain but the doors will still open.
– Start up with all engines if you can, fewer engines = longer spool up
– Flip cross-tie breaker to recharge avionic batteries from the electrical port.
– Refuel pumps must be on to receive fuel – switch in service hatch.
– Idle engine setting will keep all batteries charged so long as radar isn’t on
– The internal connection can be used to empty the tanks and feed engines but not fill tanks.
– Aircraft flyable on 2 engines (with reduced performance)
– If you hold a key before switching control, the heli will lurch in that direction unless you let the seat value reset for a bit.
– To fold main rotors, climb handles on the right side, once you’ve figured it out takes ~4 seconds to get up
– Dimensions (brackets are IRL values):
– Tail and rotors extended:
– L airframe: 19.5m (19.3m) L incl. rotors: 21.75m (22.75m)
– W airframe: 4.25m (4.55m) W incl. rotors: 17.25m (18.6m)
– H (gear down): 5.75m (5.2m)
-Rotor diameter: 17.25m (18.6m)
– Tail and rotors folded (hanger space required):
– L: 16m (15.75m) -3.5m on extended
-W: 5m (5.2m) +0.75m on extended
– H (gear down): 5.75m (5.2m)
– Airframe Weight: 3945 (wet)
– Max Payload Weight (assuming regular fuel load, no modular tanks): 6406
– Max-takeoff weight total: 10,351
– Top speed: 100knots (0 wind speed)
– Endurance:.– (at max speed), — (in hover)
Fuel prediction software isn’t tailored yet, will be fixed in the next week
– Max range: 220km+ (at max speed)
– Realistic nose-up hovering posture
Crew: 4 (Captain, Pilot, winch/camera operator, rescueman) Can be effectively crewed by 2 people, awkward but doable with 1.
Casualty capacity: 8 seated, 1 in medical bed. Can be increased if cargo rail access or medical bed aren’t needed

– Cockpit blowout windows slide a bit (gripper brake bug?) and will not always detach when activated on desyncing servers.
– Will mostly be software additions & refinements as I learn lua, but I’ll also keep it updated with the latest blocks as much as I can. I was to expand on the beacon locator and camera systems.
Huge mentions for Uran_Wind for lots of help in stabilising the heli and RedMaster for teaching me some of the lua.
Also thanks to Trapdoor, Cake, Woohoo18 and others for helping me on the discord, it was invaluable.

You’re welcome to take ideas/controllers to use and reupload in your creations so long as credit is given and you’ve linked this page! But don’t reupload ideas/controllers as lone items unless I’ve given permission.
Feel free to create your own custom variants (that aren’t SAR), but please tag me as a contributor if you publish and link to this (or the stock airframe) page. I’ve uploaded an unspecialised airframe (SAR equipment and colour scheme removed) here and will link your variant on the page with pictures so it can be a central reference.
Will do reskins on request
