Description:
History.

The Torpedo Boat Prototype or "Торпедный Катер Прототип" (ТКП, hence the name) is an armed prototype version of a project "П-18" predecessing the creation of D-3 class Torpedo Boats. The only difference that was made is superstructure design and slightly changed hull. In 1941, when this prototype was being prepared to be scrapped the Soviet Union has been attacked by Germany and was in desperate need of any available vehicle, so they armed this and 3 other prototype boats and used them as normal torpedo boats among the others already commissioned D-3’s. The TKP-28 and two other prototype boats, TKP-27 and TKP-26 were protecting the sieged Leningrad and ran sole rapid attacks on enemy forces. TKP-26 was destroyed in battle, but the TKP-28 and TKP-27 served till the very end of the war among with their serial variants, the D-3. In 1946, TKP-28 was scrapped as planned before the war.
