Description

This mod implements a raider event akin to the game’s protection event, designed to be more engaging and enticing to deal with. Instead of the current formula, the incoming raiding army size and quality will be based on the player’s settlement wealth. The player’s wealth will be distributed between raider soldier count, armor, and weapon quality, with scaling modifiers applied for balancing.

You will be required to have an established garrison and armies to defend your settlement at all times, raids can come within a day or two with little to no warning. The strength of the raiders does not scale with your troop count, so no cheesing the system like in vanilla. Be prepared to invest up to half of your total colony wealth in your garrison and surrounding armies!

Losing or surrendering to raiders is more punishing than in vanilla, where you can lose a significant portion of your resources and silver if you surrender. To put it all together, raiders are an actual threat now right from the start, they no longer scale to the moon and back when you defeat them over and over, and you shouldn’t be able to exploit the game to deal with them.

As a side-note, raiders will not come after you before you’ve unlocked the military training buildings.

Usage

Subscribe and play! Make sure to select both this mod and the Porcupine Framework in the launcher. Load order does not matter. Currently, the game does not allow adding scripts to a pre-existing save game. In the future this will be made possible, this section will be changed when that happens.

Compatibility

This mod does not change any game files, so this should be compatible with any other mod out there! An exception to this however, is that this mod will not use any armours or weapons from other mods.

Future Plans

Balancing and tweaking.

Account for new armours and weapons in other mods and use them where appropriate.

Currently, raiders only consist of Cretonians. This is temporary and will be amended in a future version.

Different types of raiders; high numbers, low quality or the other way around, Armageddon raids where you will need to temporarily conscript most of your peasants to fight alongside your professional armies and garrison, suggestions always welcome!

An in-game settings screen when starting a new save that allows the player to configure certain aspects of the game to make this mechanic easier / more difficult.
