Description:

Adds court positions based around the different commander traits. Competence is based on having the associated trait, their martial and one of their other stats, usually stewardship or prowess. The positions can only be filled by champions and unless the one in the position is really good you’ll only get a fraction of the benefits associated with the trait.

The intention is to make champions more interesting and really feel like they’re commanders leading some of the troops within your army rather than just being there because they’re individually good at killing. A holy warrior being a champion in your army can now give faith hostility advantage even if they’re not the one leading the army.
Again note that only someone serving as your champion can fill any of these positions. You can force courtiers and vassals to serve as your champions, or ban them, to get whatever combination of champions is the most useful – it’s just that now there’s a reason to make someone with low prowess your champion other than because you want them to die!

These positions do still cost money, so look at the modifiers given from hiring someone and how much they cost to decide if it’s worthwhile to hire them.

Those filling the positions get an increase to their monthly prestige, +1 martial and +10% to their monthly martial experience. Am I saying you should exploit this to make your heirs or loyal vassals stupidly powerful? Yes I am.

AI should use these too if they have the money and suitable champions. I’ve play tested this and forgor to confirm whether or not the AI used them but there’s no vanilla explanation for how fast those Saxons were when their army leader was an aggressive attacker, they must’ve had someone competent in the Organizer position.
Should be compatible with pretty much everything.

Likely *future* changes:
– Improvements to how competence is calculated:
– Factor personality traits (example: zealous holy warriors > non-zealous holy warriors)
– Factor other traits (example: crusader holy warriors > non-crusader holy warriors. Aside from that some traits should be useful all-round, like strategist)
– This would include traits that make them worse at their jobs (example: a cynical person in the holy warrior position shouldn’t be very good at inspiring the zealous fury in your soldiers that gets represented as extra faith hostility advantage)
– Changes to modifiers given:
– Make having someone poor at a position filling it worse than nobody filling it at all, for example someone who would logically make for a terrible Organizer (such as an idiot) in the Organizer position would probably mess it up and make the army even slower.
– Tweaking costs involved:
– Tribal rulers paying with prestige rather than gold.
– Holy Warriors costing piety.
– Cultural stuff:
– If your culture makes commander trait X more useful, shouldn’t it make the associated position more useful too?
– Learn on the job:
– Let those serving in these positions have a chance to get better at them with time, just like physicians. Chance to increase their martial or other associated stats, or even gain the commander trait associated with their position, every year.

My many other mods, which includes some SCP stuff, an Attack on Titan mod, a compatch for almost every building mod, a mod that removes the limit on how many holy orders you can make (and lets you make them as a count) and other good stuff. There’s bound to be something you’ll like:
