ETA
The ETA was a Basque nationalist and separatist organization that operated in the Basque Country between 1959 and 2018, with it’s goal being the independence of the region.
It originally began as a pacifist group that promoted Basque culture before evolving into a violent paramilitary group which carried out a bloody campaign of bombings, kidnappings, and assassinations.
In 2011, it would announce a permanent ceasefire, with only it’s political wing still active.
The ETA would cease political activities in 2018.
