USS Niagara
there isn’t much i could find to this ship so sorry for the short description
The USS Niagara is a Double-Masted Snow-Brig built in 1813 for the United States of America.
She Boasts of 18 32-Pounder Carronades and 2 12 Pounder long guns. She served as the flagship for Oliver Hazzard Parry at the Battle of Lake Erie during the War of 1812.
afterwards she was re-commissioned as a transport ship for the invasion of Ontario. the Invasion failed and the ship sank in 1820.
in 1913, for the Centennial of the Battle of Lake Erie, the ship was raised for museum purposes. afterwards she sat in port slowly deteriorating due to her immobile state.
Oliver Hazard Parry, in honour of his friend and fellow officer James Lawrence, flew a flag stitched "DON’T GIVE UP THE SHIP" on the Niagara during the Battle of Lake Erie.
