Description:

After a long time away due to focusing on graduating from university, I finally return to the Civ 6 modding scene and I am proud to present the newest addition in the Civilizations Tweaked Collection; China Tweak! This mod was an interesting one to work on as I think China and its leader’s abilities are in a solid state currently and really only need a little bit in order to add some extra spice to their gameplay/thematics. Thus, the majority of these changes, besides Unifier Qin and Dynastic Cycles, are minor buffs to the leader’s current ability. I hope y’all enjoy the changes I’ve made and as always feedback is appreciated!

Changes
  • Gerege has received a minor buff so that your International Trade Routes provide +0.5 Gold and +0.5 Culture per luxury resource at the origin. The intention with this change is further buff Kublai’s trade game in a way that keeps him flexible in the type of victory he can pursue while also giving him a slight leg up on the path towards a culture victory. Since Kublai can be ruler of two civilizations, these changes also apply when you choose him for the Mongols civilization.
  • The First Emperor has received a minor buff so that now cities with a Wonder provide +2 Great Engineer points per turn. The intention with this change is to double-down on Mandate Qin’s Wonder-spamming playstyle by encouragin the player to rush a city’s first Wonder with builder charges in order to start accumilating Great Engineer points much earlier in the game so they can take advantage of their power effects (especially those that grant Wonder production) sooner.
  • Thirty-Six Stratagems has received a major buff so that now whenever you train a melee unit you receive a second one for free, similar to Scythia’s ability regarding light calvary and their Saka Horse Archer. The intention with this change is to strengthen Unifier Qin’s path to a domination victory in a way that both compliments the ability’s current bonus while also giving said ability an impact on the game if you choose not to run barbarians.
  • Manual of Entrapment has received a buff so that your Capital receives a +2 boost to all yields for each Government Plaza and Diplomatic Quarter building it constructs. The intention with this change is to encourage players to engage in a more tall and/or capital-centric playstyle with Wu Zetian, which I personally think is thematically appropriate for her, alongside her espionage shenanigans by allowing them to turn their Capital into an absolute powerhouse of a city, at the cost of essentially forcing them into building these buildings and their respective districts in the Capital rather than in another city.
  • Dynastic Cycles has been buffed so that all your cities receive +10% yields during a Golden Age, or -15% during a Dark Age. The intention with this change is to give China a unique interaction that is both fun, impactful, thematically fitting, and that meshes well with the abilities of its Leaders. Of course in order to balance out having such powerful golden ages, China is also capable of having some really devastating dark ages which is meant to encourage the player to be more proactive in obtaining the necessary era score for a normal or golden age.
