Description:

Looking for a more substantial overhaul that still gives you longer battles? Then try LuckySpade’s Battle Overhaul.

One of the issues I’ve had with TWW is that armies will often break much quicker than I would like, resulting in quick battles, even between massive high-tiered armies. After doing some digging and trying various battle mods I found the culprit, a thing call army losses.

Army losses are a calculation that the game does based upon the number of fleeing enemy/friendly units, and when it kicks in it gives -120 morale. Needless to say this is enough to shatter every unit that isn’t unbreakable, resulting in an automatic mass rout.

This mod removes army losses completely, so in order to initiate a chain rout you will have to actually utliise the existing morale modifiers (rear charging, missile fire etc). In addition to this one change, I have modified 2 other areas of morale:

Units defending a town/city now get a +12 morale modifier, up from +4 in vanilla. Once the settlement is breached they get +8, up from 0 in vanilla. This better represents the determination that I would imagine exists to defend their homes and gives garrisons a little more staying power.

The other change is for modifiers for units winning in combat. I have increased these to help units that are winnning be less affected by friends routing, missile fire etc.

Winning Slightly +10, up from +3 in vanilla.
Winning +15, up from +6 in vanilla.
Winning significantly +20, up from +8 in vanilla.

All other morale modifiers are vanilla, so this is fully compatible with any unit mods, and anything that doesn’t adjust the kv_morale table. Save game compatible.

If you still find battles a bit too fast even with this mod on, then I highly recommend trying Celtik’s Slower Combat Mod, it is fully compatible with this.
