Nillians
Concept
This is an add-on playable race of blue and purple, long-eared folks who deeply value knowledge and are excellent at getting it.
Features
- Civilization:
- Nillian civilization that values knowledge and curiosity, with a side of revelry, it’d be a good idea to make guild halls and libraries full of books for them, with quick access to a fun tavern.
- Creatures:
- Nillians have sharp minds, and they’ll learn skills twice as fast as any other creature, and forget them slower!
- While a Nillian mind may be sharp, their physicality not so much, and so they have a lower strength, endurance, and agility than most other creatures.
- While Nillians may enjoy a good drink and a party, they don’t mind being sober.
- Nillians value romance and so are much more likely to get into relationships (less bedrooms!), and they won’t care about gender.
- Nillians are crepuscular, so they’ll be most active during the twilight hours.
- New items:
- Modular bookcase system for making grandiose libraries. All modules behave exactly like a vanilla bookcase. This is for looks only.
- Craftable scholar hats (wizard hats) and eye glasses.
- Graphics:
- Fully original spritework for Nillians and for some extra items. All done by the great LJneko.
- Language:
- Nillians speak a simpler, less flowery version of elvish. You will see this in their names being simplified versions of elvish names.
Values
- Nillians value the pursuit of knowledge above all.
- They greatly value friendship, truth, eloquence, merriment, craftsmanship, skill, hard work, perseverance, and romance.
- They dislike cunning, tradition, and stoicism.
Lore bits / Minor features
- Nillians call their leaders "spines".
- Nillians are an offshoot of elves, it is believed that their different values caused a split, and Nillians left to live on their own.
- Nillians have no qualms with using wood, they understand the practicality of it, and think it looks neat.
- Nillians can make capes and headscarves, to stay cozy and look great.
- While they originally spoke elvish, their preference for passing on scientific knowledge and stories through spoken word led to them dropping a lot of the written intricacies.
- The name "Nillian" comes from their word for "know", "nil". Nillian translates to "knower".
- Nillians tend to prefer the company of dwarves to that of elves, as they see elves as too pretentious and proud, and have the same dwarven passion for craftnilship.
- Nillians smell faintly of rain.
- It is a common myth that when a Nillian has a bright idea, their hair will shine brighter than usual for the day.
