Description:

The mod adds a Rune Golem hero to the Dwarfs. It’s based on the original Sons of Grimnir – Rune Golems mod by Mystical Llama!

I need some help with the scripting to have the Rune Golem spawn properly! If anyone has some experience with scripts and can help, please check below!

It only works for the main Dwarf faction! (due to the script)

For now, I’ve renamed Karag Dromar into Karak Varn and created a new unique landmark there. The Rune Golem spawns together with a Rune Lord next to the settlement at the beginning of a new campagin. Since my scripting ability is very limited, I couldn’t manage to have it spawn upon building the new landmark. That also means there is only 1 golem available (I’d like to have 3-4 from different locations across the map).

The Rune Golem has a unique skill tree which provides for all 4 equipment slots (see screenshot). Since I’m not really knowledgeable about Dwarf lore, I didn’t include any descriptions for the skills. I’m sure some Dwarf enthusiast can do a much better job than me.

Let me know what you think about balancing! It’s meant to be roughly comparable to Shaggoths or Giants.

Scripting [Need help!]

I’ve only just started looking into scripting and have really no idea what I’m doing. I have 2 different visions about how the hero can be implemented.

1. Have the hero spawn nearby directly after building the corresponding landmark.
2. Spawn the hero via the Green Knight mechanic, where each building adds another charge.

I’m not sure the second option is actually possible, but I guess it’d certainly be more time consuming to implement.

I’ve already included the building files for a more generic version of the landmark (just hidden for now), so if anyone wants to give it a try, I’d very much appreciate any help! You’ll be credited/added as a contributor of course!

Creating this mod was a spur of the moment kind of thing (I don’t even play Dwarfs) and I therefore probably won’t support it much in the future. If there is some Dwarf enthusiast among you who wants to continue with this project and keep it up-to-date, I’ll gladly hand it over.

If someone wants to help with the descriptions, look for the “- PH -“ entries in the “sel_dwf_rune_golem_texts.loc” file.
