Get Down, Get Down! (Versus or Solo)
I created this room for the August 2023 Build-a-Thon contest, with the theme of making a new "Versus" mode room. It has a very funky 70s vibe, and I hope you have as much fun with it as I did making it.
While this room is designed to be raced in Versus mode, it also works fine for Solo players but does NOT work for Co-Op. I’m using every trick I know (and a few new tricks I just made up!) that require only having One player in the room. In fact, this might be the least Co-Op friendly room of All Time. But, feel free to try it in Co-Op if you like.
Because this is designed to be raced, the puzzles are intended to be relatively easy and quick. A full walkthrough is available in the in-game menu if you get stuck.
A word of warning…I’m pushing the limits of Room Editor extremely hard here (especially considering players are racing), and it’s pretty easy to break something. I have done 50+ hours of playtesting already but given the contest deadline, there are bugs I haven’t fully addressed to my satisfaction yet.
A few quick tips to have the smoothest experience possible:
1) Try to fall straight down through any holes you find. Obstacles get a bit funky when in motion, and it’s easy to get stuck out of bounds.
2) The 70s Teleportation Device will teleport you to a random location when you press it. Which probably won’t be helpful, but if you’re already stuck then I guess you have nothing to lose! If you get stuck on the "wrong vertical plane" I don’t currently have a reset for that.
A note to Streamers: This room uses extensive music from the 70s. While I’m not using the original tracks, these are commercial karaoke tracks and I cannot vouch for whether they are DMCA friendly or will get flagged/muted. I don’t think you’ll get any copyright strikes but please let me know if you do.
