Dark Dunge
Dark Dunge is a shorter, more replayable campaign experience. You only kill each boss once, and hear their storyline through curios.
NOT RECOMMENDED FOR EXISTING SAVES, START A NEW SAVE
- Each boss is now only fought once, the first at Veteran and the second at Champion
- Each boss’ story narration is incorporated into their dungeon through curios, you will need to activate these curios to complete the dungeon
- Hero levels, dungeon progression, and building upgrade costs have all been roughly cut in half
- Champion bosses now drop "Talismans of the Flame", necessary to complete the Darkest Dungeon
- The tutorial dungeon is now randomized
- Cove & Warrens now unlock on week 2 along with Weald
- Tavern & Abbey costs have been reduced to make them more appealing. The tavern is the cheapest but side effects are slightly more likely. Abbey side effects are slightly less likely.
- Stygian Week Limit reduced to 52 weeks
- Bloodmoon Week Limit reduced to 60 weeks
- Stygian/Bloodmoon death limits set to 16 to encourage riskier play
Hero, trinket and monster mods should all be compatible with Dark Dunge. Other mods that change the campaign flow are most likely not compatible. Mods that add new dungeons/content will probably work but may be unreasonably difficult to complete on the tight Stygian/Bloodmoon week limit. I will not be spending a lot of time supporting or creating patches for Dark Dunge. If you want to create a patch/spinoff version of Dark Dunge yourself, I hereby give you permission. If it involves other modder’s work you should obviously ask them as well.
There’s a visual glitch with the Ancestor curio when you re-enter a room with a curio that you’ve already used, where it continually fades out on a loop. I think this is probably fixable but I can’t figure out how. If anyone can figure this out I will be very grateful!
