Description:
Greetings, Traveler

So, here we are again. Another Three Kingdoms mod! My third to be exact. So, this time we’re taking a look at a major bother of mine in the base game. Too, many, standard bearers. Why are there so many? In extreme sizes, a single unit can have 20+ standard bearers. Why so many and in such random locations too? I just had to address this for my own sanity.

Is this lorefriendly? ♥♥♥♥ if I know, is it history friend uuh I don’t know. Maybe? *shrugs* I have no clue and the only knowledge I have about this game’s historical period and fluff is a single youtube video. So don’t rely on my for lorefriendly content here.

What does this Mod do?
  • Significantly reduces the number of standard bearers on cavalry, ranged and infantry units. Record Hero Bodyguard units share same as Cavalry.
  • A maximum of 9 standards (on extreme sizes) for melee infantry and ranged infantry. Maximum of 6 on cavalry units. (Images outdated)
  • Hero’s bodyguard (record mode) and cavalry units have their standard bearers on the back of the regiment instead of randomly placed.

Some Info

Important to note, I have no clue how authentic this is for the game. I have been debating on how this should be done for a long while.
It’s conflicting because I kind of like a lot of standard bearers as I belive it’s an identity for this game or period, or whatever. But it was just too many. And if I remove too many banners, they look kind of boring. It’s troublesome and will require some changes here and there.

Maybe I should make it so low tier infantry units have random placed standard bearers and Elite have them in the front, middle or back of their formation instead to display an increase in military dicipline.

Compatibility

The mod seems to be savegame compatible, as I have tested this mod with an ongoing major campaign of mine.
I’d be careful of mods that edit specifically "land_units_templates_tables". Therefore, this mod is INCOMPATIBLE with mods that edit unit sizes.
These changes are not going to be applied for custom units mods that are added to the game of course.
