You can ignore all these instructions and shoot the gun like a barbarian, but the scope has some useful features that you should probably know.
The reticle is an mrad (miliradian) reticle, which means that it is subdivided into miliradians. This allows you to estimate the range, drop, and wind to a target, while using the reticle to hold the target. For example, in the image below, the enemy on the right measures about 3 mrad high.
Assuming that the enemy has a height of 1.7 meters, you can calculate the range as 1.7*1000/3, or ~570 meters, matching what rangefinders say.
Using the distance, you can look up values for the appropriate drop and wind compensation on the table to the left, and use the reticle’s subdivisions to hold the target at the correct position.
Alternatively, you can use drop and windage adjustments on the scope (shown to the right) to place the center of reticle at the right position for the shot.
The default drop adjustment shown in the scope is -6 because the scope is angled down 6 mrad so it has to be adjusted -6 mrad to look straight forward, while the number in the parenthesis is the actual angle. The floating bars above the center of the reticle are just extras to help you measure the target, the highest one is 1 mrad above the center line, descending .1 mrad per bar.
