Larry takes aim towards Rivals of Aether!

On one fateful day on his way home from work with a bucket of chicken in his hands, Larry accidentally fell into a nuclear sewage waste plant. Surviving the fall, he found that his bucket of chicken had mutated into a silver crockpot called the Poultry Pot with the ability to produce poultry-themed firearms, among other weapons and gadgets. Armed to the teeth with an enormous arsenal and unrealistic strength, Larry sets his goals in stone and stops at nothing to achieve what he thinks is right.

Armed with the Poultry Pot, Larry offers a zoner playstyle, keeping opponents at mid-range and punishing approaches. His weapon of choice from the Poultry Pot, the Tendershot, offers him ranged attacks with bullets and projectiles, and also doubles as a flamethrower, allowing him to deal powerful heated bursts. It further triples as a club, letting him swing it around by its muzzle as if it was a disjointed weapon.

Neutral Special: Handhelds

Larry pulls out a can rigged with an explosive from the Poultry Pot to throw as a projectile. Holding Special will allow you to charge the handheld, up to two additional levels. Throwing the handheld will cause it to explode shortly after it touches anything: the amount of explosions it does is proportional to its charge, and the finishing explosion grows in strength as well with the charge. You can also adjust the arc of the handhelds by holding up or forward when holding Special. Use this as a projectile to annoy people at mid-range, or charge it to have it temporarily hold down space!

(Some of Larry’s alternate colors change the projectile sprite of this move – the changes are purely cosmetic.)

Forward Special: Reticle Snipe

Taking aim, Larry points his gun forward and fires out a reticle that travels as far as you hold the Special button. Releasing it will cause the reticle to emit an explosion – the further it travels, the stronger it gets. It also gets less and less visible when traveling, so it can go unnoticed once it travels enough distance. Use this for long range snipes to catch your opponents off guard.

Down Special: Poultry Pot

Larry tosses the Poultry Pot on his back down onstage as a means for stage control. When it lands, the Poultry Pot enlarges to nearly twice its size and stays put. Pressing Down Special again once it is in this state will cause it to overheat, jumping upwards before crashing back down and exploding. You can also hold down when throwing it to toss it at a lower angle, allowing you to set it up under platforms. Moves in Larry’s kit that use explosions or fire (either hit of Forward Air or Up Strong, Down Strong, Up Special or Forward Special) will launch the Poultry Pot at high speeds and at varying angles – experiment with each of them to find the optimal angle to cook your opponents.

You can actually throw your Handhelds into the Poultry Pot to… “cook” them. When you either remotely detonate or hit the Poultry Pot with certain moves, the pot will actually release the consumed Handheld and send it at an angle, which varies on how you made it explode. Use this at the right time to turn the tides of the battle and gain the upper hand.

Up Special: Exhaust Burst

Using his weapon as a turbine, Larry rises upwards while spewing exhaust flames underneath him. When reaching the apex of the exhaust, Larry will use exhaust before it runs out to do a spinning swipe that deals a lot of knockback – making it suited for vertical K.O.s. You can also hold in either horizontal direction during startup to have Larry arc either left or right to gain additional horizontal distance, but at the cost of having less vertical distance and not doing the finishing hit, having Larry instead do a flip to regain his balance. You can also avoid doing the finishing hit when using this move without any horizontal adjustment by holding Parry when reaching the apex of your flight.

Some of Larry’s normal attacks have unique attributes to them:

Dash Attack: Double Slash

Larry does two back-to-back single-handed slashes with his gun. Hold backward before the second slash to do a reverse slash that moves Larry backward and also sends opponents backward as well, allowing you to mix up your opponents and potentially start a combo off of it.

Forward Air

Larry thrusts his weapon in front of him, then fires a small projectile. This projectile pushes Larry backwards – meaning it can be used either as a retreating tool or as a movement option if you face away from your opponent. Landing the melee hit of this move increases the size of the projectile, making it easier to connect the two hits.

Forward Strong

Larry grips his weapon by its muzzle, then swings for the fences. Has a tipper hitbox that reaches quite far and deals a lot of knockback, but has a significant amount of endlag, leaving you wide open.
