Destructable Glass: Rewrite
This is a mod that adds completely procedural glass to the game, you can find it in the spawnmenu in the entities tab under "Glass: Rewrite"
It also replaces func_breakable_surf (glass entity used in most half life maps), so feel free to play half life with alyx style glass!
Note: This addon may lag a lot, source vphysics was never meant to handle a large pile of objects, I tried my best to make it lag friendly, but you shouldn’t expect perfection
I also suggest uninstalling the first glass addon if you have it installed as it has code that will lag your game even when idle
– glass_expensive_material (0-1) refractive material I made, its sorta garbage so thats why its optional
– glass_lagfriendly (0-1) helps with lag a bit by completely no colliding shards
The original addon was created almost 2 years ago, but I decided to rewrite it as the original addon was kind of garbage (and to see how much improvement ive made)
New features include:
– Better material, optional refractive material using glass_expensive_material (0-1) console command
– Actually breaks where you hit it
– Multiple shards generated per hit instead of 2
– Code revisions
– Easier api
– Better networking
– Nearby shards will ‘weld’ together after broken (this is actually an optimization but I figured it looked sorta good too)
A tool exists in the spawnmenu called "Glass Rewrite", you can use it to turn any prop into glass, there isn’t a limit to how complex or big the object can be.. so be careful when trying to turn things like cannonballs into glass
