Skill Based Dodge Speed
Similar to the popular "Martial Arts Fast Dodger" but it’s tied to your Weapon and/or Martial Arts skills now. I’ve gone through the trouble of having the various dodges tied to the fighting skill.
I believe weapon wielding players only use the stumble dodges, but just in case I made the non-stumble version as well for each skill.
Base dodge speed is 1.1 at skill levels 9 and below. Skill level 100 dodge speed is 1.5. Martial Arts can get up to 1.7 dodge speed at skill level 125. If this is reachable in Vanilla about the only way you can do it is fighting indoors (+8) with wearing martial artist bindings (+4), sleeveless dustcoat/assassin rags (+6) and armoured rag skirt (+4). Which puts you at 122 if your base is 100.
Speed increases every 10 levels. Going up to 100 for most skills and upto 125 for Martial Arts (Beware the fury of Tinfist! Even if he caps out at 122 indoors with his default skills and equipment…) I’ve also improved the animation hesistantion point for the higher speed dodges to more appropriately dodge slow swinging attacks.
Dodge back fall (the matrix style dodge were you lean back) is enabled in this BUT it gets faster AND happens less often as your Martial Arts skill increases. This dodge shouldn’t ever be used by people wielding weapons.
Limitations: The dodge speed is based on the weapon you’re using, not on the dodge skill (which governs whether or not you’re going to dodge, and no unfortunately I can’t base the dodge speed on the dodge skill…) Unarmed fighters will dodge faster with high Martial Arts Skills. Fighters wielding a Katana with a high martial arts skill and a Katana skill of 1 will have the default dodge speed, so if you want to dodge faster while wielding a Katana get better at Katana skill.
Polearm dodge speed might be bugged, the reference for it in combat techniques is different from all the other skills so I might’ve messed it up slightly. I’ve tested a bit with this and I still see the dodge animation occassionally however I’m not so sure it’s going appropriately fast. If this is confirmed as being bugged I’ll just tie Polearm dodge speed to Martial Arts but use a different (higher dodge speed) for a base for Polearms but grows more slowly than other skills and reaching the same dodge speed as other weapon skills at level 100.
Mod Incompatibilities
Probably several.
The base combat techniques these are based off of are disabled so anything that changes them will effectively do nothing. For instance Martial Arts Fast Dodger + This mod in ANY load order will result in only this Mod working since I disabled the base combat techniques are replaced them with these as wholely new references. This is a relatively minor issue unless you’re trying to specifically replace an animation or disable an animation outright in which case a patch would need to be made.
If any mods/updates add weapon skills that do not exist they will have access to no dodges what-so-ever.
Mods that allow you to go significantly past 100 for your skill levels will not see any benefits after level 100 except for Martial Arts which caps out at 125 for improvements from this mod.
