USS Solomon Islands CV-50

The USS Solomon Islands is the lead ship of her class of aircraft carriers built in 1951. With the recent addition of angled flight decks, she is a revolutionary design for the US Navy that maximizes aircraft operations on deck. She also included elevators on the edge of the decks for maximum deck capacity. She also carried one of the most powerful artillery systems to defend herself against aircraft. She is depicted in her modernization in the 1970s.
