Description:

AMC introduced the Javelin in 1967 as its official "pony car" offering to compete directly with the Ford Mustang introduced a few years earlier. The first generation Javelin was well received by automotive critics and the public at large and the second generation followed up on its success. It offered a bigger engine, more radical styling, and performance upgrades in the way of a special AMX package.

Still officially a pony car, the AMX Javelin is much more akin to a traditional muscle car and its closest rivals were Dodge Chargers and Chevy Camaros. In a class full of black sheep, the AMX Javelin was a loner and its legacy has been largely relegated to the footnotes of automotive history books following the ’73 fuel crisis and subsequent collapse of AMC.

But its fans remained dedicated in the decades since and it exists today as a popular fixture at car shows across the country; its unique styling standing out in a sea of Challengers and Barracudas. You have to be a special kind of muscle car fan to truly appreciate the Javelin.

About

This is a 1972 AMC Javelin with the AMX performance package. It is a two-door four-seater with limited trunk space and moderate protection, but it is speedy and handles well, especially in inclement weather. Plus it looks hella cool.

Features include:

  • Nine Color Options: Replicating the colors the vehicle was offered in (and a special custom AMC "Trans-Am Race" livery).
  • Animated: Opening doors, windows, hood, and trunk.
  • Armored: Using the crafting system, create makeshift armor to add to the car to make it the ultimate apocalypse road machine (and add some fun personality!)
  • Mechanic System: Removable/repairable parts.
  • Physics: Realistic handling and properties.
  • Distribution: Found all over, in both wealthy and poorer areas, but it is not very common.
  • Wreck Included: A burned wreck version can be found to add some new variety to major backups.

Future Plans

Armor: This was my first attempt at armor… and it’s a bit lacking. I will be giving this a revamp in the near future.

Ethos

My goal is to release cars that fit naturally into the game world and stylistically match the base-game’s textures and art design. Additionally, I’ve also strive for my work to be ultra light-weight (to keep performance smooth) and to look great with other vehicle mods that share a similar ethos, such as Filibuster Rhymes’ Used Cars, fhqwhgads’ Motorious Zone, and improvement mods such as the Vanilla Vehicle Enhancer, among others.

My vehicle mods use real world names.
