GWR 0-6-0 2301 ‘Dean Goods’ class.

260 were built by the GWR from 1883 to 1899. 54 were still in use in 1948 when British Railways took over. The last was retired in 1957. One survives in preservation. Over 100 were requisitioned in the first and second world wars and some were used in France. After their war use some ended up in Greece, Germany, Austria and even China. Although mainly used for goods, they also served on local passenger routes.
