Description:

Sounds of the succession war cockpit sound mod aims to deliver a complete audio overhaul of the MW5 game, the main goal is to change both the audio and how the audio is delivered to the pilot, rather then having it sound like you are sitting on the exterior of the machine the soundscape has been shifted to give the feeling that you are inside the cockpit of one of this fighting machines, audio on the outside is muffled and subdued with only internal elements being much clearer compared to what is happening around you.

The mod also delivers a complete audio change of almost every sound baring voice lines and music everything from the interior of your leopard hangers, the destruction of buildings, the weapon systems, ambient, vehicle, cockpit, foot steps and more have all be rebuilt with new audio to bring a more satisfying feel to every thing happening in the world you are in here are the core blocks and what to expect.

Front end: While usually over looked the front end being the leopard hanger and all elements of your ship have had new audio added, the hanger is suppose to be a complex and busy environment with machines and tools at work on the mechs and the changes have been quite large every thing from new tools, welding, communications, ambiance, jumping from system to system has been changed to better reflect the on goings on a dropship. Sadly the UI for the mechlab still remains problematic and thus new audio could not yet be applied for this section

Environment and destruction: This section of the game got a massive overhaul every material type whether it be concrete, metal, explosive, volatile, lamp posts and the list have all new audio added to it making destroying it only that more satisfying, it was a pain staking process to create and expand upon it with a whole host of new variations hopefully resulting in a more chaotic destructive nature as they wreck what is around you. The Warzone environment has been greatly expanded upon with new audio to closer simulate a battlefield ambiance, new AA, explosions, gun fire, jets, cannons and more are added to create the perfect set of a full on engagement of combined arms.

Mechs: The focal point of the game Mechs have received a ton of new audio, new foot steps that scale based on weight including new types for when plowing into bodies of water, a more detailed torso twist audio and cockpit interior to bring these machines more to life and feeling like a weapon of war. This further extends to Mech destruction completely revamped destruction intensity of explosions based on which component is taken out topping it off with a far more destructive audio cue for going Stagpole, a lot of fine details were also added such as rumbling interior audio for when a mech is struck by a kinetic weapon, smashes into a building or landing from a fall its the little details that can make the difference.

Vehicles: A small section but one worth noting, usually canon fodder but it would be a complete overhaul with out touching them up. To this end all vehicles and dropships have new audio, new engines for tanks, rotor and turbine engines for Vtols, new audio for both the Leopard and union class dropships mostly there to improve what was lacking which was much in the way of any distinct audio for them.

Weapons: The meat and potatoes this section was one of the largest if not Thee largest focus of the mod, all the weapons were recreated to provide not only a sense of power and weight but it also add more mechanical elements to them being discharged, Lasers now snap and hum as faint burns and recycling is heard, PPC’s thunder as they leave the guns with the capacitors cycling back. Auto cannons thump and reload as new shells are slotted in with larger ones generating rattling upon firing, Missiles engage loudly and swoop out with a burning roar. All the weapons have been built to feel like they are being fired from with in and not from with out I have tried my best to find the niche between statisfying and believable.

Attenuations: With out these the mod simply wouldn’t hear like it does. Taking up a large chunk of time for testing just every every sound and container has been re adjusted attenuations wise with new filters, low passes and other systems added to scale the audio out from the player to provide a better sense of scale as you either close in or move further away from the action. This was a lot of work in of it self as it mostly boiled down to repeated trial and error to find the right settings for each area of audio.

3.0 has been a huge labor of love and if not for the supportive community well then I’d probably never would of spent all this time trying to fix and make a new sound mod, so I hope you will enjoy it, might not be everyone cup of tea and that is fine as long as some enjoy it then I know I did my job.

See you on the field Mechwarrior.

If you’d like to support the mod.

Every little bit helps as is the current situation of not having any work these days. Would be appreciated.
