Seaboard Air Line and Atlantic Coast Line never merge because their merger was denied on grounds of competition.
SCL, Family Lines, and Seaboard System never becomes a thing, and so SBD and Chessie merging to create CSX is never a threat to NW and SOU because Seaboard System doesn’t exist, so Norfolk Southern never happens.
Sometime in the 80s, they rebranded with a new logo and paint scheme. The railroad industry was healthy again and so they decided to adopt a more stylish identity.
Honestly, I thought of this on the spot because I didn’t write any in depth lore. I made this intending for you to be running it long hood forward like what they would’ve done, but there’s a regular one where it’s not backwards.
