Description:

I found it odd that the lowly Baldwin 6 wheeler emitted as much steam as UP 9000. So I decided to rectify it.

After installation of this mod steam locomotives will emit steam somewhat proportionally to their power rating. This applies to both stack and cylinder leakage steam. This applies to newly built/replaced vehicles, although existing ones will also be somewhat changed.

Moreover – steam is more life like now – it is whiter, cylinder leakage is much less pronounced and steam from the stack is less visible, as it condenses later.

Diesel locomotives now also emit fumes based on their power, but also on their design age:

– locomotives designed prior to 1965 emit most smoke
– locomotives from 1965 to 1979 emit somewhat less
– locomotives from 1980 to 1994 emit even less
– and to comply to CO2 emissions, locomotives built after 1995 emit barely any

Locomotives which lacked diesel fumes now will emit them properely, these are:
– Alco HH600
– Class V100
– Nohab
– BR 246

Note: amount of emissions produced has been effectively reduced for most locomotives – with biggest steam locos being exceptions. This has a benefit of getting some extra bit of performance, but you might not like the aesthetic.

Note: this mod is safe to add/remove from the savegame at any time.

Note: this mod modifies all steam locomotives, including both vanilla and custom ones. This might be against the artistic vision of the author of the locomotive, so caveat emptor.
