The Colony of Witchfire’s history dates back to mid 1253 when it was established under religious pretenses as a means to split from the church of their homeland, before soon turning into a crucial outpost during the Age of Discovery in the New World. Nestled near the mouth of the Carpathia River in New Rhodesland, the colony quickly became a vital trade route for the inland settlements, linking them to the riches of the Carabara Seas and their native homelands. The initial years were challenging as the colonists grappled with the hardships of their remote existence, but they gradually adapted by forging relationships with the native inhabitants. Witchfire’s reputation as skilled fur trappers and woodsmen soon spread far and wide.

By 1340, Witchfire had flourished, attracting a vast wave of settlers seeking adventure and prosperity. Many ventured south toward the Carabara Seas, where privateers and opportunities for Marivalian plunder awaited. Yet, in 1347, a series of misfortunes began to plague the once-thriving colony. A sudden, though small return of the Red Death broke in the colony and crop failures that year caused moods to take an unfortunate turn, leaving many to cite their woes as potential divine punishment for their sins.

To make matters worse, rumors of witchcraft and sinister rituals began to surface among the settlers. The name "Witchfire" suddenly took on an bit of an irony as the colony’s inhabitants, desperate to find a scapegoat for their woes, turned on each other. Hysteria spread like wildfire across the colony, and a series of rampant witch trials ensued. Accusations of witchcraft became a convenient tool for those seeking to rid themselves of undesirable spouses, as divorce was forbidden by the church, which cited it as a mockery of the faith.

This is a bit of a speedmap that I had constructed for this lovely day of halloween, and hopefully you folks have a wonderful time playing it, as much as I did making it.
