Description:

You need the Gathering Storm Expansion.

Climate Change has been added to the game in "Gathering Storm" Expansion, but Climate Change has a limited impact on the game, affecting only plot yield, disaster frequency, and sea level height.
In the "Great Famine Mode", Climate Change will also have an impact on food yield in cities.
Early Climate Change can increase food production, but later climate change will reduce food yield, and by the last phase, food yield in all cities will be zero.

The specific effects are as follows:

  • Climate Change Phase I: All cities +10% Food.
  • Climate Change Phase II: All cities +25% Food.
  • Climate Change Phase III: All cities no longer have Food yield bonus.
  • Climate Change Phase IV: All cities -10% Food.
  • Climate Change Phase V: All cities -25% Food.
  • Climate Change Phase VI: All cities -50% Food.
  • Climate Change Phase VII: All cities can no longer yield Food.

When Climate Change beyong the Phase VII, it will enter the Global Famine state. All civilizations will no longer be able to settle new cities.
At the same time, cities without more than 1 Citizen will be destroyed by famine in 1 turn.
As punishment, in the event of a global famine, the population of all the cities of the civilization that emit the most CO2 will be halved. (Can be turned off in "Advanced Options" before the game starts)
