Metra Logo
The current logo for Metra (See note below).
Metra is a commuter railroad in the Chicago metropolitan area. The railroad operates 241 stations on 11 different rail lines. It is the fourth busiest commuter rail system in the United States by ridership and the largest and busiest commuter rail system outside the New York City metropolitan area. On an average weekday Metra provides 293,600 rides over its 488 route miles (785 km) of track.
Using Chicago’s rail infrastructure, much of which was created in the 19th century, the Illinois General Assembly established the Regional Transit Authority (RTA), and later Metra, to serve commuters by rail. Metra’s creation was a result of the anticipated failure of commuter service operated and owned by various private railroad companies in the 1970s. Private railroad companies still operate some routes; however, these operations are guided by contracted service agreements. Metra owns all rolling stock and is responsible for all stations along with the respective municipalities.

Note
I wanted to include the diagonal red and white stripes that Metra paints on the front of their locomotives, but I wasn’t able to duplicate it very well with the way Transport Fever handles logos. Additionally, those stripes would have been the only logo on some vehicles, and all aircraft would have had the stripes as the logo on their vertical stabilizers. Instead of ditching the stripes altogether, I decided to take some artistic liberty and combine them with the official Metra logo for some elements of this logo design.
