Eastern Pacific A-9 Challenger
This is the Eastern Pacific A-9 Challenger
History:
Since because of the amount of goods needed to be delivered in the 1940s, The Eastern Pacific Railroad needed a strong locomotive to haul the goods, But the UP wasn’t interested in giving the EP some of their Big Boys or Challengers. But the TrainMaster Railroad decided to give the Eastern Pacific Some of their Challengers. The Eastern Pacific had modified their Challengers and gave them a Eastern Pacific Coast to Coast Tender. The Locomotives were numbered 9740 to 9760. They had been So Successful That the Eastern Pacific had not retired them until 1965. Saddly, only one was preserved and that locomotive was 9748 at the Illinois Railway Museum.
I had to make this history of the A-9 Challengers up as I go along
