Description:

"We dreamed of creating the world’s strongest Pokemon, and we succeeded."

Mewtwo, The Strongest Psychic Pokemon, Descends Into the Fray!

Created from the DNA of Mew, this Pokémon is a dangerous combination of overwhelming power and a savage heart.

Mewtwo is a fast character with many mobility options. He uses spaced moves to find an opening he can use to make the opponent explode.
He is close to his Smash Ultimate appearance with slightly reworked special moves.
(I also plan on reworking his smash attacks as well – stay tuned)

Float

In the air, you can press the grab button to float freely in any direction for a bit more than a second.
It uses your jump, but in exchange you can do any aerial, used in combos and kill confirms
Letting go of grab, using specials, getting hit, touching the ground, or entering special fall will end float.

Double jump

Mewtwo can keep his double jump momentum while using aerials (not specials) by holding the jump button.
if you want to cancel his double jump momentum instead, let go of jump.

Neutral Special: Aura Sphere

Instead of shadow ball, he has aura sphere.
It is Pokemon lore accurate (it never misses, if you are facing the opponent)
It needs to charge, but the charge cannot be kept if you cancel it (by jumping).
It does not have a hitbox while charging.

Side Special: Confusion

This move is not completely lore accurate, or it wouldn’t have much use.
This move spins the opponent, putting 1-4 question marks above their head.
For every question mark given to them, each time the affected opponent uses an attack, they have a 50% chance to injure themselves in their confusion.
(if this were lore accurate, it would only confuse them 10% of the time)
Can combo into other moves if it is used high enough above the ground.
It is not a command grab, it does not reflect projectiles, and the confusion debuff does not stack.

Up Special: Teleport

Almost the same as Smash Ultimate teleport, except it is fully actionable if you have a double jump.
If you have used a double jump, it will put you into freefall instead.

Down Special: Psychic

A two part attack.
Mewtwo attacks with a strong psychic force, knocking them back, but not doing much damage.
Very high range move with a lot of startup.
When the opponent is hit by this move, they will get a colored outline that corresponds to how many times they’ve been hit by it.
It stacks up to 3 times.

The second part of this attack is activated by holding grab during the first few frames of Down Special’s start up.
This allows Mewtwo telekinetically move his opponents as he pleases.
How fast they are moved around depends on how many stacks/what color outline they have.
It clears all stacks after the move finishes.

PsnDth in the discord server as always for helping with some of the code that I wasn’t familiar with
EnsiumLux for most of the other coding
skyskyosuke in the discord server for making the thumbnail
Smash Ultimate for the model used to make the sprites, the animations, and most of the sound effects

To-do
  • More colors
  • new properties/options on smash attacks (more pokemon moves)
  • A new followup attack for level 4 psychic
  • Balance adjustments if needed

I hope you’ll enjoy playing Mewtwo
