Fall of Klendathu – Final Mission
Attention, Troopers! All available units must report to the hangar immediately. The war ends today!
After your last successful mission and your career in the Mobile Infantry, the fleet places a great deal of trust in your ability to kill Bugs. So, it’s not particularly surprising that you’ve been ordered to the front lines, where our brave men and women have been engaged in a defensive battle against the Bugs for days. We are standing with all our strength in front of their largest tunnel system, the "home" of the Bugs. Our scientists are confident that if we win the battle at this position, we will bomb their tunnels back into the Stone Age and end this war once and for all. The Commander of the Mobile Infantry is on-site, conducting briefings and issuing the necessary orders to enable strategic advancement. So, you’re basically meeting a true legend today, the commander of the entire Mobile Infantry! Act accordingly!
We will drop you right into the hot zone. Orient yourself and locate the Commander. He will provide further instructions. But don’t expect a casual chat; he will be brief, as the current situation on the ground demands his full attention.
A personal matter:
I truly hope today is Day X, the day we no longer have to wage war. I’m counting on you, the world is counting on you… One more thing, no matter how this day ends, it’s quite possible that we won’t see each other again after this. I hope you were satisfied with my performance as your pilot, instructor, and perhaps even a friend. Maybe our paths will cross again someday; they say the MI is smaller than a village. Until then, it has been an honor, and good luck out there. You’re going to need it.
