Hurricane – Placed Industry
Hurricane. A town that went up only for its regionally critical iron ore mine; they say a man can get out of anything in Hurricane. What they mostly mean is pocket and breath; they surely don’t mean much of anything else, on account of the fierce difficulty of getting any man into Hurricane in the first place, no matter how much he may be content to toil beneath the soil…
Away to the south lies Lakeside, which aint by a lake. The old canal gave rise to the town of Canalup, inventively so named because up and north are totally the same thing, which enjoys a friendly old rivalry – or partnership, depending on day of the week – with good old Jurisdam. Named after that dam. The one that didnt get built. Hurricane County is where dreams go to get winded.
