This pack includes a quintet of ALCO S2 locomotives in PRR brunswick green livery:

5644
5650
9106
9279
9284

The ALCO S2 switchers were 1,000 horsepower diesel locomotives that were nearly identical to the later S4; the only difference being that they were each fitted with a different type of bogie. 1,502 S2s were built between 1940 and 1950.

Between 1948 and 1950, ALCO built at least 42 of their S2 switchers for the Pennsylvania Railroad. The Pennsy classified these engines as AS10, presumably to avoid confusion with PRR 6200; the one-off S2 class steam-turbine locomotive. This engine was still in service when the AS10s were being built, but she was withdrawn in August 1949.

As for the diesel S2s, I’ve found hardly any information about them, so I don’t know what their ultimate fate was. Although – saying that – I wouldn’t be surprised if they were all scrapped.
