Type 4 Rifle (Japanese Garand)
If you had played Battlefield 1942, WW2 battlefield games and COD WW2 or even Enlisted. Yes, this rifle does seem familiar and yes it is used in WW2 games where you can play as the Japanese. Sometimes they add this rifle not to break the historical accuracy but to balance out the game since M1 Garand is always present. So now here it is the Type 4 waited by some and most will be used by lot. This gun has been in the making since February. It all started by borrowing a Fallout 4 mod and then porting it to ARMA 3. Thanks to 2009IW4, something interesting in the Japanese arsenal occured in the ARMA modding space. I’m also aware the reload wasn’t to be that, simply there aren’t bolt action stripper clip reloads in the vanilla ARMA 3 to use.
Japan to some people that interested in military hardware, seem to be a stranger towards the semi automatic rifles but in reality the Japanese military had been experimenting on semi automatic rifles such as the Pendersen rifle and the Czechoslovakian made ZH-29. During the Sino-Japanese War, the Japanese we’re still considering semi auto rifles in order to have an advantage against bolt action operation Chinese. When the US intervention occured in the Second World War, the Japanese were very worried over the fact there enemy is in time with the small arms they own in the standard amount and order which is M1 Garand which they first encountered in Philippine campaign. As the Japanese captured M1s, they began rechambering them to the Arisaka catridges which also had nearly the same dimensions as the American .30-06. The Japanese engineers had realized it’s better to copy or take inspiration from the M1. With that idea they considered creating their own Garand by adding 2 more rounds to fit 10 rounds. In order to load the rifle the user will have to load with 5 Arisaka stripper clips which is similar to the Brtish Lee Enfield.
The Japanese ordered 250 Type 4s but only 125 were made after the Japanese surrendered. Though depicted in pop culture sometimes, this rifle wasn’t used by the Japanese military. At the time these, were meant to be shipped but none arrived, they were still at the workshops waiting to be used either still experimented or in the frontlines.
