This mod adds makeup, as well as decisions to apply or remove it. You can attempt to make yourself uglier with makeup too, and applying always costs some money.
Each level of makeup is analagous to a level of the beauty/ugly traits.
They give the same attraction opinion and affect your fertility by half as much ("beauty traits increase fertility because more frequent seggs or beautiful features often being natural fertility indicators? I do not know, so I split the difference").
They still affect your portrait. You can have hideous makeup at the same time as being naturally beautiful and so on.
Likely future features:
– Health risks of using makeup. Yeah fun fact a lot of the means by which medieval peeps attempted to match the beauty standards of their times were unhealthy or even outright dangerous.
– Cultural and religious attitudes towards makeup, including differing opinions dependent on whether a character is male or female.
– Tweaking of odds of getting different makeup traits based on your character’s traits and stats. Possibly a trait specifically related to how good you are with makeup.
– Asking to do makeup for other characters or requesting them do it for you, with the odds of them accepting or declining depending on their traits*, opinion of you and relation to you.
*(which could be pretty interesting. A zealot of a religion that says makeup is cringe for their gender is obviously gonna be opposed to it, but one of a religion saying it’s based will love it. Maybe a new trait just for whether or not a character likes the idea of wearing makeup, and then having the brave trait at the same time as either increases their impact as someone who’s brave is gonna be more willing to defy you by refusing to let you put any on them if they don’t like makeup but more willing to accept if they like makeup even if their religion/culture say makeup is cringe. Paranoid peeps won’t like anyone else touching them, whereas trusting peeps are more likely to be up for it)
