NOTE: It is very important to make sure the "Independent Architecture" DAT Mod has a lower Mod Priority than the Architecture Mods.

May 5th Update – Fixed a few errors where some Decay SLP’s were for the wrong units or Civ Groups

-Unit Edition Notes-

  • All the features from the Primary Version of Independent Architecture, including the Bug Fixes
  • As of now, Units are split into 4 "Regional Groups".
    • Asia, consisting of the Burmese, Chinese, Japanese, Khmer, Koreans, Malay, Mongols & Vietnamese
    • African, Indian & Middle Eastern Civs (Berbers, Ethiopians, Indians, Malians Persians, Saracens & Turks)
    • Americans, which is Aztecs, Incas & Mayans
    • The Byzantines and the Huns have their own dedicated unit sets. The Vietnamese has dedicated King graphics but still shares the "Unit Group" with the rest of the Asian Civilizations
    • The European Civilizations uses the original SLP files, which is now dedicated to them. Any standard Unit Graphic Mod will only effect the European Civs in IA.
  • For more information on the SLP ID’s or creating Unit Mods for IA, please see the Text Files located in the directory of this mod (Easily done through the Workshop Menu ingame)

What is this version of Independent Architecture and why does it exist?

This version of Independent Architecture is a version that included support for dedicated units which I introduced to the Primary Version a bit less than a month ago. However, I never ended up getting much support / permissions for the idea despite numerous requests over the year to implement it to Independent Architecture and it was doing more harm than good, since it made the current unit mods incompatible (outside of European Civs) so I ended up (mostly) scrapping the idea. However again, a lot of work was put into the unit support and there is probably a handful of people who has hand modded units into the mod with Unit Mods either from the Workshop or AoK Heaven, so I don’t want to completely remove it from the Workshop. Which is why this version exists.

For now, I will be putting my effort into supporting the primary mod at the moment and improving the quality of the Architecture aspect of the mod, but I will consider re-adding unit support to Independent Architecture when there is more support for that aspect of the mod.

Some Troubleshooting Notes

For loading Saved Games for Skirmish, Standard Games or Campaigns using IA, you need to "Pre-Load" Independent Architecture first or else it will crash AoE2HD. There is a more detailed tutorial on the Main Mod Page, but for a short guide here, you just have to start a new Standard Game with IA Selected. Then you should be able to load the save game without problems.
