Description:

Makes cats a playable civilization.
Specific changes

  • Made cats intelligent, not pets, and playable
  • Added a cat civilization with cat-specific ethics, values, and items
  • Added a cat language
  • Added some cat specfic tools
  • Gave cats the ability to hold tools and items in their mouth

Challenges with cats (skip if you want to learn by losing)
The main unique challenges with cats come from the fact that they’re carnivores and very small. The carnivore situation is easy enough to work with; focus on eggs and hunting more than farming. As for size, cats can’t hold most items in the game… including picks and axes. I added hatchets so they can get wood, but decided they can’t mine. You’ll have to buy a pickaxe and build a nice tavern to convince a dwarf to move in to do your mining for you.
Cross-mod support
This mod has special support for Just One More Thing… Carpentry to help building essentials with wood.
Known bugs (let me know if you have a fix!)

  • Despite having the CLOTHING tag, cats show up naked and embaressed about it. They will wear clothing if given it, though.
  • The Steam release of DF made construction removal require a pickaxe, so constructions can’t be removed.
