Description:

[DISCLAIMER: I am not at all a native american and have very little knowledge on the subject beyond research for this mod, I have probably butchered a few cultures in the name of a simpler map and ignorance. If something is terribly wrong culture or geographic wise just leave a message and I’ll get around to it.]

On the 3rd of August 1492 three ships left southwestern spain under the command of Christopher Columbus, they were never seen again. Instead several years later a Spanish mission lands in West Africa and begins the first settled colony in Africa. A decade or two later and Spanish conquistadors have begun to carve out a vast empire in the Congo and Southern Africa. The other major powers follow and soon the entire continent is under the command of foreign European powers, France controlling the west coast, England the Southern.

In 1680 a Danish explorer discovered land west of Greenland, long known by sailors but now marked on a map, however their inland expeditions were stopped by an unknown disease which kills fast. This disease is known as Bluetongue due to one of its more grotesque symptoms, the swelling of the tongue. This fast killing disease, European wars and African revolutions stopped any serious attempt at American colonization till the 19th century.

Play as many nations in various situations of possible grandeur or disaster, from the rich and powerful african colonies with many options to the likely doomed nations of the Americas who will have to do a lot to stop the advances of colonisation.

Forgotten Continent is a mod hoped to be expanded on and improved, this is the current first implementation (Colonised Africa and a Non-colonised America). The idea is Africa gets colonised like America in-real-life while the Americas get mostly untouched like Africa did (sort of). The plan is to soon change the rest of the world to reflect the changes this would have done, flavour and mechanics/journals will then flow from there.

Update Roadmap: This isn’t a direct "this will happen first" list but here is a list of things I plan to get done for the next few updates.

1. Journal entry for the Inca to deal with their current famine problem, thanks to the user who suggested it, why not turn a oversight into a problem to solve for them.
2. Changing the Opium Wars/China Vanilla Journal to apply so China still has issues at game start (rn its a bit powerful due to the lack of immediate UK beat down)
3. some content for native americans to have them be a slight bit more active.
4. Probably some map changes to Europe/Asia to reflect the alternate history.
