TMRX AC Berkshire Series
TMRX AC Berkshire Series had Finally arrived in Rolling Line
History:
AC-5:
In 1937, the TMRX needed a Berkshire to do Mix-Traffic between Utah and New York. They ordered the 5th Class of the AC Series by Baldwin Locomotive Works. Numbered from 1222 to 1232, They Proved Really Successful, So Successful, that the TMRX Kept them in service as long as the N&W. But still they weren’t able to win over diesels, so by 1960, All of the AC-5s were retired from service, and Sadly all of them were scrapped.
AC-10:
In 1942, the First AC-10s Rolled out of Baldwin Locomotive Works. From 1250 to 1265, they were just as Successful as the AC-5s, but they were more reliable because of the welded PT Tender they had. Like the AC-5s, by 1960, All of the AC-10s were retired from service. But unlike the AC-5s, 2 of the AC-10s were preserved, 1258 at the Oregon Heritage Railroad Center with SP 4449, and 1261 at the TMEP Workshop undergoing restoration.
