(Total-Conversion Mod) The Epic Tale of Gansass
After 7 years in the making, the remaster of The Binding of Gansass, ( https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=892579450 ) is finally out. AND YES REALLY IT TOOK 7 YEARS TO MAKE THIS MOD
As a TLDR;
This mod changes everything in the game making the whole experience more RNG based and cursed (for lack of a better word). It’s basically like a deep-fried Challenge run generator.

The original mod started development somewhere around 2015 – 2016, and released in 2017. This mod is build upon the foundations of that 2015 mod. This is technically the 3rd iteration of this mod, however the first build predates workshop support in addition to AB+. It is intended to be played alone with no other mods, however mods that don’t interfere with existing AI or Add too many Rooms/ Enemies should complement it fine. Item and character mods go well with it though. Currently corpse path is the most fun / polished however base path is still playable. I will say tho, the womb and its equivalents just haven’t been fully polished.- And I’ll admit I did get somewhat lazy when it came to those floors. ENEMY + BOSS RESPRITES + MUSIC MODS ALL CONFLICT – BUT the game is still playable.
In it’s current state it changes enemy sprites, item sprites, music, rooms, nearly every single boss fight, enemy health and speed values, every floor(except for home) and more. This mod essentially turns the Bosses into Touhou Bosses (experientially speaking at least due to the room placements). This mod DOES NOT alter behaviour or AI, however it may appear so as certain enemies behave differently when they’re values or rooms have been changed.
The original mod was made before afterbirth plus or modding tools, so I tried to sort-of recapture that, by still doing weird ♥♥♥♥ with the games engine, however choosing to use only non-lua tools. It initially started as meme / ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mod that I had forgot about however, earlier this November (2023), now being an actual animator. I chose to go back and play around with isaac via this mod. The fact I started this in 2016 is sometimes quite evident with some of the old memes and low effort sprites still being left in (along side the fully animated from the ground up resprites lol). One of the main reasons I chose to finally port this mod, is due the fact that – I really loved the originals gameplay flow changes, wherein that it gives the player a lot of items – but is then difficult with it’s enemies and bosses- to balance it out. Some runs will be really easy, some will be unfair. However the sheer chaos of the builds you can create will hopefully have you going back for more. This is still somewhat a partial meme mod, so don’t get too upset or take things too seriously if your run is OP or you get killed by BS.

Additionally any Re sprites or boss behavior changes seem to conflict, please let me know if you encounter any mods that don’t work with this. Harder boss paterns is the main one I’ve tested so far that doesnt work.
Planned Features:
-Change All of Greed mode
-Polish Every Single Boss fight, certain sprites or revamps are admittedly not that complex and I hope to make them more engaging / silly
-Change more Enemies, this features is more so in terms of their values / scaling rather than the visual aspect
List of known bugs
-Crashing when changing floors and loosing your progress for said floor, (The newest version of the mod reduces this but it’s still something to be aware of), to fix this either RESTART THE RUN or FIND AN ALT path
-Lag when entering rooms on weaker machines
-Leeches have visual bug
-Dingas have a visual bug
-Bug relating to key blocks wherein they can be opened, but their collision remains until the room is re-entered
-Crash on Game over (kind of funny tho lol)
-Void room crashes the game, this is currently being worked on 2 be fixed
-FIEND FOLIO MAKES THIS MOD WORK IN UNINTENDED WAYS BUT is still usable- however I still suggest against it
TO FIX the main 2 components of the mod not working due to conflicts :
+ Is the starting room not appearing ? This means a mod has overwritten the rooms folder and breaks a lot of the boss edits in this mod; to fix this go into the files of those mods and delete the rooms.
+ Are enemies normal and not buffed ? This means a mod has overwritten the entities2 file and go into the files of those and delete it.
