[WOTC] Enemy Mod Balance Changes
This mod is designed to fix some of the balance issues that appear between different modded enemies. The Universal Enemy Compatibilty Patch gets everyone to show up roughly the same amount, but there are still some egregious outliers in the power curve. It’s outside the scope of that mod to make balance changes, so this mod is responsible for leveling out the difficulty curve of those enemies. That said, UECP makes changes to every enemy mod, and I have not played with all of them, so I have not made balance adjustments to all of them.
This mod will also always err on the side of lighter nerfs. I want to reduce the peaks of difficulty to something reasonable. I don’t want to flatten them into a non-issue entirely.
Many enemies have outrageously high amounts of defense (Negative chance to hit that unit). Currently, this mod is primarily lowering defense on outliers as it can be a very frustrating form of difficulty that is often the final nail in a unit feeling too powerful. It also removes Shield Deflect from Bio Assaults and nerfs the health of one unit.
This mod has no hard requirements. If you run the mod, it will nerf the enemy. If you don’t, then it does nothing.
The following changes are all for the highest level variant of each enemy, on legend difficulty. Similar changes have happened, albeit scaled down, at lower difficulties and on weaker enemies:
- Venators (from LEB’s Lategame Enemies) reduced to 20 Defense (from 30).
- Hive Guards (from The Hive More) reduced to 1% Deflect Chance (from 25).
- Advent Priest (from Adv Priest Revamp) reduced to 10 Defense (from 15).
- Exalted Archbishops (from Purge Priests) reduced to 15 Defense (from 30), 40 hp (from 50), and 4 armor (from 6).
- Advent Warlocks (from Advent Warlocks…) reduced to 15 Defense (from 20)
- Muton Hunters (from Muton Hunters…) reduced to 0 Defense (from 10) and 2 armor (from 4). Done less to curb power and more to define identity as a backline sniper in a sea of 10 defense Mutons.
- Muton Enemy Pack Changes: Centurion Grunts, Elites, and Commandos all reduced to 10 Defense (from 15). Honor Guards reduced to 10 Defense (from 25), which still totals 20 after their +10 defense aura. Centurion Elites (Commandants) have been reduced to 20 Health (from 30).
- Frost Legion Changes: Bruisers reduced to 25 Defense (from 40). Bombers reduced to 15 Defense (from 20). Cobras reduced to 15 Defense (from 20). Shield Droids reduced to 25 Defense (from 50). ChrissalidW/B reduced to 10/15 Defense from (15/30). Frost Mutons reduced to 15 Defense (from 20). Frost Priests reduced to 10 Defense (from 15). Frost Purifiers reduced to 10 Defense (from 25).
- Bio Legion Changes: Bio Generals (M3D) reduced to 15 Defense (from 20). Bio Assaults (Shieldless) reduced to 10 Defense (from 15). Bio Assaults (Shielded) have been stripped of Shield Deflect* (and given 5 additional HP to compensate). Shield Deflect has actually only been reduced to 1% chance, as reducing it to 0% instead causes a bug to default the chance to 100%.
I don’t make balance changes to enemies when other modders have already done it for me. I’d recommend subbing to these mods that I also use: LWOTC Standalone Rebalance and Even More Robots Rebalanced .
