Presenting the RNLI Tamar class lifeboat

The Tamar class lifeboat was first introduced to the RNLI fleet in 2005 and has since saved countless of lives. The Tamar represented a step into the modern world, being the first boat to feature the revolutionizing SIMS system – giving the crew full control of the vessel while remaining safely strapped in to the shock absorbed seats.

Start-up

1. Hop in the mechanic’s seat.
2. On the panel to your left, above the window, turn the key for main power.
3. Flip the ignition switches for each engine.
4. Hop in either coxswain’s seat, helmsman’s seat, the flybridge or docking controls and press [Spacebar] to take control. You can take control from another crewmember on the fly depending on the situation you are facing.

Notes
  • The autopilot takes coordinates in the keyboard. To put in new coordinates – turn off the autopilot, press the [C] on the map display to clear old coordinates, put in new target and then turn autopilot back on.
  • You can adjust the trim planes to get the boat to sit higher or lower in the water depending on weather conditions. Play around with it and work actively with trimming for the best speed, safety and fuel efficiency!
