Kolibri Pistol

The Kolibri pistol is the world’s smallest semi-automatic centerfire pistol. Invented by the Austro-Hungarian watchmaker Franz Pfann, it was produced from 1913 until the mid-1920s in both single-shot and repeating versions. Since the technology of the time could not drill rifling into such a small barrel, it is a smoothbore barrel. About 1,000 copies were produced, with the pistol mainly sold as a novelty.
The 2.7mm Kolibri cartridge is the smallest centerfire cartridge ever produced commercially, with a muzzle energy of 3 joules. The combination of low muzzle energy and a smoothbore barrel made the Hummingbird an extremely inaccurate and practically useless weapon. Reloading the magazine usually required the use of tweezers.
