M70 "Marshall" MBT
The M70 is a fictional tank.
The M70 was first conceptualized in 1970 (hence its name) as Project M-X. It was a program pursued by the US Army because it needed a replacement for the already aging M60 Patton. After a design made by General Motors was chosen, a prototype was constructed in 1973 alongside a functioning 105mm cannon and optics. After 1978, the MBT was officially designated as M70 "Marshall." Some adjustments were made to the M-X, like the 105mm being swapped out for a more powerful 120mm to combat stronger Soviet armor, and the hull was made taller for more comfort for the driver. Just a year later, the Army allowed GM for full-scale production of the M70. Alongside the standard M70, many other variants were produced, like the M70 Asymmetrical Warfare/Insurgency (M70 AW/I) utilized to combat insurgencies in the Middle East and Latin America.
