A cold isolated fjord on an already cold and isolated island, Kangiqtualuk Uqquqti (also known as the Sam Ford Fiord)’s harsh beauty is often compared to that of Yosemite, both being vast granite mountains that were carved to their present form by massive glaciers. The fjord stretches for approximately 68 miles (110 km) and its awe-inspiring cliffs rise steeply from its shores to heights up to 4,900 ft (1,500 m) above sea level in the area near Swiss Bay.
