Rise of the Raiders – Saxons – (Overpowered Ver) Raid Income Mechanic
This mod is just an idea I had for a faction that receives no base income or taxes at all, but has to constantly raid, sack, and pillage their way through the world. Designed more for hordes, it can still be played while settled, though.
I have no idea how the AI would cope with this, but I would assume they would crash and burn hard.
The Saxons receive a bunch of traits in addition to what they already have:
Emancipators: Doubled unit replenishment when taking on defeated troops post-battle
Income +250% from sacking, looting and raiding
Raiding income in neutral territory: +250%
Raiding income in enemy territory: +250%
Income: +250% for every 10% damage caused to settlements during a battle
Income: +250% from razing settlements
Extra income for every enemy unit destroyed
-15% movement speed reduction in raiding stance (factionwide)
Fatigue rate: -10% for all units
Rapacious Horde: Food obtained only through settlement battles when horde
Victory Rallies: Additional horde growth gained through successful battles
Swelling Ranks: Raiding stance provides free Rebellion Militia unit (Note: Subject to be removed)
Integrity: +6 when raiding
Conquest: +15 growth from razing settlements
Immune to seasickness
Immune to high-seas attrition
Attrition: Immune to snow attrition
Morale: +5 when fighting during the winter
Roman Will: No movement cost for the Fortify and Encampment stances (Note: Subject to be moved into a separate mod)
Upkeep cost: -100% for all units (Note: the effect itself doesn’t appear to be working, so it is changed in another way. Please see next section.)
The mod also changes:
Lowers the GDP base/"other" income for ALL FACTIONS to 250. (Byproduct of this is single city/small factions will field a lot less units and probably die sooner.)
Lowers tax rates, and upkeep cost for the PLAYER only.
Requirements:
May need DLC, may not. Certain perks come from some DLCs.
Compatibility:
Completely uses fragmented tables, which changes/adds to the following tables:
campaign_difficulty_handicap_effects_tables – the tax rate
campaign_variables_tables – the GDP base/"other" faction income
campaigns_campaign_variables_junctions_tables – the GDP base/"other" faction income, affects Charlemagne too
effects_bundles_to_effects_junctions_tables – the Saxon faction perks
Mods that edit tax rate and faction income will overwrite that part of this mod.
Traits will be added in addition to other mods.
Incompatibility will show when you receive tax and/or 3000 base income, and/or have upkeep.
Recommendations:
A mod that removes horde infighting (rivalry)
A mod for increased income from trading, for settled factions
Feedback:
Feedback is welcome, good or bad.
I don’t want to hear anything about historical accuracy or lore-friendliness.
