Peter Tordenskiold (Project 1035, 1947)
HOsMS Peter Tordenskiold (Project 1035) was an enhanced model of the Design 1047, better known as Gouden Leeuw.
Named after the Dano-Norwegian vice admiral Peter Jansen Wessel Tordenskiold, a legendary navy figure in the early modern Norway.
The Oschronian and Dutch engineers continued to work on the Design 1047 in early 1942, she was more focused on speed and quantity of shells, so she was more lightly armored and with French 240mm guns but featured with more barrels. The design overall was approved in Mar. 1943 and tasked to the New York Shipbuilding Corporation, to complete the majority part of the ship. Then in late 1944 she was been transferred to Akers mekaniske Verksted for armaments and electronics and Trondheims mekaniske Verksted for secondary directors and miscellaneous assemblies. She was eventually put into service in Feb. 1945. In 1947, director equipment was upgraded to Swedish standard.
