Terran (ATF) Tyr M2 (15-Slot) [X3]
The Terran military is divided into two distinct, independent branches – the United Space Command (USC) and a special unit called the AGI Task Force (ATF). Charged with protecting Terran space from any and all forms of artificial general intelligence, the ATF has access to some of the most advanced ships in the known universe.
The Tyr-class destroyer (M2) forms the backbone of the ATF’s heavier deployments. It is an extraordinarily powerful gun platform, carrying a dizzying number of heavy weapons and boasting some of the most powerful shields of any ship in the known universe – only the USC’s Kyoto superdestroyer and the ATF’s own flagship, the Valhalla, are more heavily shielded. Weapons of choice for the Tyr are the anti-capital ship Point Singularity Projector and the heavy anti-fighter Starburst Shockwave Cannon – though it can also mount the anti-corvette Matter/Antimatter Launcher.
In combat, the Tyr is a force to be reckoned with. There are few ships that it cannot easily best on its own. Against the Xenon, the Tyr is a strong counter to both the J-class carrier and K-class destroyer – it can outrun and outgun both of these vessels. The much less common Xenon I-class is not as easy a target, though the Tyr does have a significant speed advantage against it.
The Tyr’s only real shortcoming comes in the form of its cargo bay – which, when carrying a full compliment of weapons systems, leaves little room for missiles or jump fuel. However, the ATF covers this weakness by rarely ever deploying the Tyr alone, using fleet support to extend its effective range and keep it ever fresh in the mechanical minds of the Terrans’ oldest and most hated enemy.

This build of the ATF Tyr is based on its appearance in X3: Terran Conflict and X3: Albion Prelude. It is a mostly faithful re-creation of the original. This ship took a very long time to finish – I’ve been working on it off and on again for the better part of 11 months in between a number of real-life distractions. It has a *lot* more geometry than the Xenon J and, as such, took significantly more blocks and more time.
The Tyr has 44 weapons hardpoints ranging from size 1 to 4 (roughly – the ship has been rescaled and so the exact numbers are a little weird). The hardpoints come with custom turret designs and are marked in a diagram in the screenshots gallery. The ship also includes a number of internal frameworks so that you can add your own desired components and customize it to your liking. Detailed stats and cost can be found in the screenshots.
While the Tyr did not have a hangar in either of its X3 appearances, I decided to give it one in a place I thought looked appropriate, as I am not currently planning on ever doing an ATF carrier. Bear in mind that it has only a small hangar capacity and no real fighter production by default – you can add some by using the frameworks, if you so choose, or produce fighters somewhere else.
If you’d like some ATF fighters to go with the Tyr, here’s what I’ve got:
*The Mjolnir (M4) actually shared its model with the Valkyrie, so I only built the one.
