71-421Р «Довлатов»/71-421R «Dovlatov»
71-421R «Dovlatov» (formerly «Petrogradka») is a two-section four-axle tram manufactured by UralTransMash.
The two-section low-floor tram «Dovlatov» can accommodate up to 160 people. It is equipped with an active safety system that can independently apply the brakes if it detects an obstacle, up to a complete stop. The driver’s wakefulness monitoring system monitors his condition and, if he sees deviations, gives an appropriate signal.
A transparent interactive window-screen in the carriage will allow passengers not only to admire the city landscapes, but also to receive navigation and tourist information. The tram is also adapted for passengers with limited mobility.
As Business Petersburg wrote, the retro tram was developed specifically for the features of the city’s oldest tram fleet. It can pass a curved section of a path with a radius of up to 14 meters, which is much less than modern standards.
In October of this year, a presentation of another car from the retro series took place – 71-431R «Dostoevsky». Now it is already transporting passengers along the central streets. In total, the Northern capital will receive 76 retro trams.
